Tack Room

The small kitchen provides basic functionality, supporting everyday use, while the table becomes the heart of the space – a place for conversation, planning, or simply taking a break. Subtle lighting and warm tones soften the utilitarian character, creating a calm and grounded atmosphere.

The project reflects on how even highly functional spaces can be reimagined to offer comfort and a sense of belonging, transforming the tack room into a more human-centred environment within the stable setting.

The space is organised around the practical needs of storing and maintaining riding equipment, while also introducing a small kitchen area and a central table that encourage longer stays and social interaction. Rather than treating the tack room purely as a service space, the design elevates it into a hybrid environment where work and pause naturally coexist.

Materials are selected with durability and authenticity in mind. Natural wood, metal details, and textured surfaces reference the equestrian context, while softer elements balance the overall composition. The layout allows for clear zoning, separating storage, preparation, and communal areas without losing spatial continuity.
