Some buildings are more than bricks and stone. They hold memories, shape the character of a place, and become part of the story of a community.
We are excited to share that we have begun work on proposals for the future of the Former Bridge Street Church in Wick, Scotland. Located on Bridge Street and recognised as a Category B Listed Building, the church has been a familiar part of the townscape for generations. As architects, projects like this are particularly meaningful. Historic buildings present a unique opportunity: to preserve what makes them special while carefully adapting them for contemporary life.
The challenge is not simply to change a building’s use, but to respect its history and ensure it remains relevant for years to come.
We are currently at the pre-application stage, exploring how the building can be sensitively transformed while retaining the architectural character that makes it such an important local landmark. This early phase is about listening, researching, understanding the building’s story, and identifying opportunities that will support its long-term future.
Every Successful Project Beings With Understanding What Already Exists.
Before drawing new lines, we take the time to appreciate the craftsmanship, history, and identity embedded within a place.
The Former Bridge Street Church has stood proudly in Wick for more than a century. We are delighted to be involved in shaping its next chapter and look forward to sharing updates as the project develops. Interested in seeing more of the building?
